At Jurassic Coast Fine Foods, we place a strong emphasis on maintaining exceptional standards across all our practices. Working in partnership with our local Environmental Health Officer, we are committed to upholding the highest levels of quality and sustainability in everything we do.
Sustainability
Embracing sustainability is at the heart of our philosophy here at Jurassic Coast Fine Foods. Our commitment to environmental responsibility shines through in every aspect of our business. From sourcing locally to reducing waste, we are dedicated to making a positive impact on our planet.
Our dedication to sustainability has been further strengthened with the recent installation of a 70kw solar system on our roof. We are committed to implementing eco-friendly practices and reducing our environmental impact. The solar panel installation should provide around 75% of our electricity usage which would equate to a reduction in carbon emissions by about 280 tonnes.
Environmental Schemes
The farm has recently entered a new scheme called Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme. These latest environmental schemese look to benefit the environment, animal welfare, and reduce carbon emmissions while rewarding farmers and land managers for their sustainable farming practices. Typical examples we are using here at Fossil Farm is we are looking to use clover in our grass leys which will reduce our reliance on Nitrogen. We are also planting around 15 acres of wild flower meadows and wild bird seed plots which will provide natural food for hedgerow birds during the winter.
